LED School Fundraiser Underway in October
SATEC is partnering with Efficiency Vermont to promote the sale of LEDs and raise money for class field trips and other student activities.  Efficiency Vermont is providing LEDs (light-emitting diodes) at significantly marked-down prices – with all LEDs priced at $2/bulb.  LEDs are more efficient, durable and longer lasting than incandescent and fluorescent lighting.  In addition, LEDs emit light in a specific direction, whereas an incandescent or fluorescent bulb emits light—and heat—in all directions.
A broad range of LEDs will be offered as part of the fundraiser, including “A-style” bulbs typically used for lamp applications, globe or decorative style bulbs, bulged reflectors for recess lighting and some track lighting applications, and candelabra-style bulbs.   The LED products sold through the fundraiser are only ENERGY STAR® labeled LEDs, which means that these products have been tested by a third party certification body and approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  ENERGY STAR testing verifies that LEDs provide the energy savings, lighting quality, and long-lifespans.
The fundraiser is scheduled to run through the month of October. You can help reduce your electric bill and raise money for a good cause by purchasing LEDs.  Look for the order forms and the fact sheet brought home to you by your son or daughter.  For more information on LEDs, call Efficiency Vermont at 1-888-921 5990. For more information on the fundraiser, contact Derek Madden, SATEC Facilities Manager, at 752-2608.

Odyssey of the Mind
It was great to see so many students/parents stop by the Odyssey of the Mind table at the open houses and many picked up a sign up form.   We would like the forms returned to the front office by Oct 3rd so we can put the teams together and get started!! We are still looking for more students to be able to have division 1 (3-5 grade) and primary (K-2) teams.  OOTM is an afterschool activity that typically meets one day a week until the state tournament in March.  All students in K-8 are welcome! If someone is looking for a form or more info, contact Lynn Tetreault at 527-9688 or sltetreault@myfairpoint.net
