What is Odyssey of the Mind?

An international STEAM based program that focuses on creative problem solving.  Teams up to 7 students work together to creatively solve a long term problem to be presented at the state tournament on March 14.  The teams also practice spontaneous problem solving during their practices which typically run about once a week, late-October to mid-March.  Teams must solve the problems themselves with a coach(es) to facilitate and guide, but not give ideas or help create solutions.

Who can participate?

Any SATEC student in grades K-8 (no cost, but there will be a fall fundraiser to participate in).  Teams are put together based on interests, grade level and volunteer coach availability.  To be on a team, students must be able to work well with others and be willing to compromise (teamwork).   Students also need to have the desire to be creative and have fun!!

Want to learn more about Odyssey of the Mind and possibly sign up?
Come to a family night to learn more about this program and participate in some Odyssey of the Mind activities!
When?

Hello all!  School Sing News:

On Friday, Sept. 6th, the students and staff in grades K-3 will meet for our first School Sing of the 2019-2020 school year.  As in the past, we will be collecting donated items throughout the year for several local agencies/charities.  Franklin County Animal Rescue is the first one we will be collecting for, from Sept. 6th through Nov. 15th.
We are looking for the following items:
Animal Items - dry and canned cat, kitten, dog, and puppy food - IAMS brand, if possible.
                        Dog and cat toys
                        Dog collars
Cleaning Items-  Liquid dish soap, liquid bleach, trash bags, and paper towels
People/Office Items - Toilet paper, copier paper, and stamps
Visitors are welcome for our weekly sing-along.  We hope to see you there!  Start time is about 8:45 until 9:05 or so, in the cafeteria.
