5th-8th graders listened to Johanna Parkhurst, an author, originally from Sheldon, VT. Johanna shared the joys and challenges of becoming a writer and the journey of getting her work published.  What a fantastic experience! Thank you!

Congratulations to all our students who walked to school today!  This is our 11th week in a row that we have been walking to school on Wednesdays.  Stayed tuned in December as our goal in the winter will be to walk once a month.

7th grade Enrichment Block Fitness Class gets some training from Beth Hemingway, a personal trainer from Collins Perley.  It is awesome to have such great community volunteers!

Open Doors (11/20/14):
3-8 WINTER EXTRAVAGANZA
In between Open Doors Sessions (December 1st-12th) we will be offering students in grades 3-8 and school wide faculty and staff the opportunity to sign up and participate in SATEC’s “Winter Extravaganza”.  This is a structured and rehearsed variety show that will have various acts of singing, dancing, acting, story telling, band playing and beyond!
Students will be allowed to choose what they would be interested in participating in. (i.e. singing, dancing, acting) or helping with the show (costumes, props, etc.) We will spend two weeks after school rehearsing (some acts won’t go everyday) to prepare for an evening show for the community, students and staff!
Students received information this past Friday.

We will be accepting forms until Friday, the 21st.
There is no cost to sign up, just a commitment to your acts and you to do your very best!!

We will be walking this Wednesday, November 19th
It will be cold in the morning with temperatures in the mid 20s with wind chills in the teens.  Please have students dress appropriately with coats, hats, and gloves.

Thanksgiving Feast Please mark your calendar and join us on Thursday, November 20th for our annual Thanksgiving Feast hosted by the Abbey Group from 10:45-1:15 in the school cafeteria. The cost will be $1.95 for students and $3.60 for adults.


St. Albans Town is rewriting its Zoning Bylaws and we want your input!
The built environment influences the way we commute, shop, and live. Come discuss potential
modifications to our Zoning Bylaws that affect people walking, biking, or driving. Let the Town know
what changes you would like to see.

There will be a meeting on November 19th at 6:30pm in the SATEC cafeteria on how the zoning bylaws can affect walking and biking choices/infrastructure.  This will be a great way for parents who want to see more walking and biking options to express their opinions to the Town. SATEC’s Vermont Kids Against Tobacco (VKAT) group presented at our K-4 School Sing on Friday.

Students answered questions and heard information about the negative effects of smoking on our health.  Thank you to our VKAT students!

Book Donations Needed
The PKC (peace, kindness and celebrations) is a group of 6th grade students who work to help and educate others.  We are currently collecting books to help inmates better their lives by reading, We are sponsoring the local correctional center. There are many boxes around the school. There is 1 box in each grade -  4th grade and up, 1 in the library, 1 in each of the  lobbies, front and back. We are looking for middle school level books, paperback or hardcover books are acceptable, also fiction or nonfiction, textbooks and resource books too. Please avoid topics like crime, weapons and maps etc.
We will be collecting till Dec. 19th.
