We had a great walk to school today!

A message from Mrs. DeBellis:
I would like to thank the SATEC staff, students, parents and community members for sponsoring me at the MS Walk in Burlington last week which supports the National MS Society. I would especially like to thank Jason Therrien, whose beard was the inspiration for so many to give. The students, staff and community members came together and raised over $3,200 dollars. I am overwhelmed by the generosity of others and it really shows what you can do when everyone pulls together. The students should be very proud of their accomplishment of not only raising money for a good cause but learning and having a little fun along the way.  I am very proud and thankful to be a part of such a caring and supportive community. Sincerely, Erica DeBellis Home/School Coordinator

FREE CAMP!
Camp Location: Camp Hochelaga, South Hero, VT
Dates:  6/22 - 6/26
Hours of Operation: 8:45-5:00
Breakfast, Lunch, and Transportation (from a central location) Provided

The University of Vermont Center for Children, Youth, and Families, together with Yale University, are interested in learning about stress and coping in children. We are conducting a new study to learn about genetic and environmental (e.g., trauma, social supports) factors associated with risk and resiliency in children and adolescents. Parents and children will complete some interviews and questionnaires, and children will also give a saliva (e.g., spit) sample that contains DNA, the chemicals that make up genes. The goal of this research is to help us learn how to best help all children reach their potential – no matter what they have been through. The purpose of the camp is to give each child a positive and fun experience, while we use a small part of each day to collect assessments.   The rest of the day children will participate in regular camp activities such as sports, art, music, swimming, and boating. Meals will be provided each day at no cost to you, and you and your child will earn money for helping us complete our research.  We are currently looking for children without histories of significant stressors. Sibling groups are welcome.
