Vermont Association for Middle Level Education Conference at UVM on March 10, 2015
14 SATEC Middle School Students attended a VAMLE (Vermont Association for Middle Level Education) Conference on March 10, 2015, called “Beyond Bullying II: Creating a Culture of Respect in Socially Inclusive Safe School.” The mission of the VAMLE is to support, encourage and inspire middle level educators to develop programs designed specifically around the needs of early adolescents, and practices that focus on learning for every student with an emphasis on student voice. This conference is designed to give students the tools they will need to develop plans for improving school culture with the objective of honoring all students. SATEC students worked hard all day, participating in workshops alongside student leaders from across the state. They covered many topics including bullying, cyberbullying, rumor mills and how to stand up for what is right. Our teams of students created action plans and came up with great ideas to bring back to our school.
