FCSU ACT 46
Message from the FCSU Act 46 Study committee:
Did you know… Act 46 calls for the Secretary of Education to assign school districts to a larger school district by 2018 unless that smaller district can present a compelling case to remain independent. Because our school system already has a unified high school, it is logical that the Secretary of Education would force the merger of the FCSU schools into one district anyway, but without all of the incentives provided under the accelerated merger plan. http://fcsuvt.org/download/act46.htm. If you have questions not answered there feel free to email them to act46@fcsuvt.org.

Drama Announcement
This year, SATEC drama will perform the 2015-2016 musical The Magical Land of Oz.
When Dorothy’s house squashes the Wicked Witch of the East, she and her dog Toto set out on
the adventure that has charmed millions. With her friends, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, and Tin
Woodsman, this remarkable journey takes them to the great Oz...who will only grant them their
wishes if they rid the world of the Wicked Witch of the West.
The drama group is open to all students in grades 4-8 and provides an opportunity for acting,
singing (solos and chorus), dance, tech (lights, sound, props and costumes) and of course,
friendship. Drama rehearsals will be on Mondays and Fridays from 3:30-5:00 and you must be
able to commit to both days. Rehearsals will begin on Monday, December 21st and will run until
the final production on Friday, April 8th at 7:00 P.M. Auditions will be held on Monday, December 7th from 3:30-4:30 in the KIVA. If you are interested in participating in tech, you do not need to audition, however, please fill out a permission slip. Permission slips and audition scripts will be available on Tuesday, December 1st at both the front and back offices. Please return forms to Ms. Thompson no later than Thursday, December 3rd.
“One difference between poetry and lyrics is that lyrics sort of fade into the background. They fade on the page and live on the stage when set to music.” - Stephen Sondheim
See you on the stage!
