We are sending a huge shout-out to all readers at SATEC! This week, over 200 votes were cast to determine this year's winners of the SATEC Students' Choice Award.
We are pleased to announce that the winning picture book this year is Ellile by Mike Wu!
We are equally pleased to announce that, in a VERY close race, the winning chapter book this year is Moo by Sharon Creech.
Teachers, Miss Lanthier will be around to give you the award-winner sticker for the books you have in your rooms. Please pull out your copy of Ellie and/or Moo so it's ready to receive the award!
Thank you to all who read and voted! Be on the watch for next year's list, which will be coming soon to a teacher near you!
SATEC Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week May 7-11
“To Mrs. Allerton and Mr. Flanagan,
Thank you so much for keeping the library running smoothly and making it a fun learning environment for all students. It’s my daughter’s “happy place”.
This week Youth Leaders of SATEC will be leading school wide celebrations and recognitions for our amazing teachers and staff members. Parents and Guardians are welcome to join in on our fun by sending a “thank you” or a few words of gratitude to any teacher or staff member of their choice. Ms. Rose and the Youth Leaders will then transfer your words into a letter form and personally hand deliver the message(s).
*Remember this activity includes all Teachers, Paras, Unified Arts, Custodians, Secretaries, Nurses, Librarians, Specialists and Administration at our school.

Dear Families,
We wanted to share some information about the upcoming NGSS and SBAC State testing that students at SATEC will be participating in. The NGSS is a science assessment administered in Grades 5 & 8. This assessment provides information about general science knowledge and science process skills. The SBAC is a comprehensive assessment of English Language Arts and Mathematics for students in Grades 3-8. This assessment is given online and students have been learning how to take tests in an online format throughout the school year. The scores are shared by the Vermont Agency of Education as one measure of our school performance and we use the scores to help us plan for how to better support students.
In order to provide a positive testing environment and encourage students to get plenty of rest in the evenings we will not be assigning homework for students in all grades (K-8) . We ask that you please encourage your children to get plenty of rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and to try their best. Services for students will focus on providing accommodations for the tests.
SBAC Testing Schedule Spring 2018
There will be no homework K-8 throughout the entire testing window.
